Inappropriate uses of Soy

I’m officially starting a list:

#1. Soy Jerky

I might not be the most tolerant of soy-as-meat substitutions but this is just depraved. I just shudder to think how they extract and extrude all the soy protein to make it look like dried strips of darkly seasoned meat.

#2.”Flavored” Tofu

I’m suspicious of any marketed tofu that’s flavor is labeled as anything but “plain”. In fact, if it even has to go through the trouble of labeling it as such is grounds enough for suspicion. Sauté me minimalist but there is no recourse for my tofu to taste like it was an illegitimate offspring from the faux-gourmet aisle.”Spinach jalapeño”?! “Savory portabella [sic]?!?!

NIMT - NOT IN MY TOFU!

And just in time for Thanksgiving…

#3. Tofu(rkey)

I’ve always had my glaring eye on Tofurkeys. Although a notch down from soy jerky, what makes this especially egregious is the forming of tofu into the shape of a deli meat-substitue log roll.

Double the penalty for turkey-shaped incarnations. Disgraceful.

Welcome

This is home to the musings and ruminations of a soon-to-be quarter-lifer detailed in lifestreams and article posts that will cover a wide range of topics that are my life pursuits, hobbies, passions, and incidental loves.
